The London Mayoral Election isn't too far away, and if you're anything like me (read: a total nerd) you'll be want to know just how committed the candidates are to London's transformation into an active and joyful travel city.

Luckily for us, @SustransLondon has our back.
They've developed a Manifesto for London with fairer streets and safer lives -- detailing the 12 things they want to see happen in the next Mayoral term.

What are those asks, you say?
1. First things first -- the mayor must introduce an Equity Framework for London's transport.

That's a fancy way of saying the mayor must make sure everyone can reap the benefits of active travel, especially those who are generally disadvantaged.
As an example -- it's not enough to build a cycle lane if that lane isn't wide enough for the non-standard cycles used by disabled folk -- or if it's not safe enough to be used by a child -- or if it doesn't reach the poorest neighbourhood.
2. Create neighbourhoods that are designed for people.

(Yes that's right, people, not cars).

Neighbourhoods designed this way have little through traffic, have room to walk and cycle and play, and have all the things you might need day to day a short walk from home.
3. Disadvantaged and marginalised Londoners bear the brunt of air pollution and road danger caused by our driving addiction. Too often they're left out of the decisions that could improve their lives.

The new mayor must change that.
4. London has too many cars.

London needs less cars.

London needs a Road User Charging Scheme.
5. Get 1 million (1,000,000) more Londoners cycling regularly.
6. Meet the absolutely enormous and only growing demand for secure bike parking.

(I'll give you a hint: you can't do it using the this:)
7. Remove the bullshit and totally discriminatory access barriers that stop people with prams, wheelchairs, or bikes from getting where they want to go.

The mayor can absolutely get rid of those.
8. Make the LTNs and temporary cycle lanes that have been introduced as part of the Streetspace plan permanent.
9. Build cycleways in places without many transport options *first* so folk aren't forced to buy cars (or horses) they don't want and can't afford
10. Triple the distance of safe cycleways in london. Yep, you read that right. Triple.
11. Create an Iconic Green Routes of London Network that gives us greater access to the green places that keep us sane
12. Ensure all road improvement projects make streets SAFE, not just safer.

You know what that means?

SCRAP THE SILVERTOWN TUNNEL!
So the bar has been set for the next Mayor of London. It's up to all of us to make sure they meet it.

Which of these priorities is most important to you?
