In the UK, 81% of people now believe that climate change is an "emergency". If you had told me that three years ago, I would have said you were mad. It is a huge, huge achievement. And it shows that change can happen quickly!
The obvious question though is: "what next?". The climate movement has raised the alarm, so what do we do now? We have to point towards the fire exits. We have to talk about solutions. Otherwise, you're just screaming "fire" in a house everybody already knows is burning down.
We can all begin by supporting the Green New Deal. It is a good start, but it is only a start... We need to talk about reparations, and consumption, and growth, and a real democracy. We need to redesign our economy so that it works for people and planet. The hard work starts now!
But do take a moment to celebrate! And then - please, please, please - keep on going!
