You know, the children I am most concerned about right now are those 3-4 year olds who won't get this 'development' time back. This is their one shot at building their physical, social and emotional foundations and that is being lost forever due this pandemic. [thread]
Overcoming this 'development deficit' is crucial to the future life chances of millions of children at this age and stage of development otherwise we will have to address the ongoing challenges for this generation for years to come and many will be left behind with their learning
their chances of a good education, their health inequalities and employment. We could see the lasting impact for children in the early years, right now well into the next decade.
There are many vulnerable children we need to support but if we don't help fill the void in these children's development foundations then I dread to think of the repercussions for education and society.
