We’ve written off Appalachia as republican and taken Black voters in Ohio’s cities for granted, assuming they’ll turn out for Democrats.

Every vote is earned, not given. Politicians must meet people where they are and run on ideas that address people’s needs.
The sentiment towards politicians in both these communities is similar—that politicians don’t care about them.

Honestly? They’re right.
These places face the same issues no matter who is president, a Democrat or Republican.

Cleveland was the poorest city in America under Obama and Trump.

Athens County was the poorest county in Ohio under Obama and Trump.
The reason Ohio is a “swing” state is because voters swing.

Why?

Because to them, the current party in power isn’t meeting their needs.
