Free Software/Hardware for YouTube

You don't need all the fancy new hardware and expensive software in order to release your first video.

I didn't spend my first dime until 2 months after. Here's a list of the software and hardware you can use!

1. Recording Hardware

You DON'T need a fancy expensive DSLR. Phone cameras have gotten really good in recent years. You can definitely just use the phone

Especially if you have a newer phone, might not ever need to upgrade. I used my iPhone for the first 8 months

2. Recording Software

If you want to record your screen there are lots of free amazing options. Popular one that YouTubers use is OBS Studio.

It is free, it is amazing, and they even have an app that lets you connect your phone camera to stream directly to OBS (not free)

3. Editing

Editing usually has the most expensive softwares, however there are some GREAT free alternatives.

The most popular one is DaVinci Resolve. The free version has almost everything you would need. There is also iMovie and others too.

4. Thumbnails

You don't need photoshop to create thumbnails. There are options like Figma, Photopea, and other free softwares that let you create thumbnails completely free.

Moral of the thread is you don't need to invest money at the beginning to start.

In fact, unless you are really confident, you probably shouldn't invest money at the very beginning. Test it out, see if it is for you, then invest.

And once you are ready to invest, the first thing you should invest in is a microphone. You can get a cheaper lavalier mic for $20.

I have had troubles with those, but another good investment is a Blue Yeti Mic (very simple to use)

They will both get the job done.

So now you can't use software or hardware as an excuse. Either find a new excuse or start your journey 😊
