Heather Mewshaw has interpreted for far right figures in videos advancing conspiracy theories and false claims

On one hand, I’m not sure the political ideology of an interpreter should matter, if the interpreter is doing his/her/their job correctly? But on the other hand, this particular extreme ideology is a clear conflict of interest here.
There were some weird errors with the numbers the interpreter used during the briefing in question — 50% became 15% in one instance. I’d assumed it was just a minor mistake. Errors happen in translation. But now I’m not so sure.
Anyway, your regular reminder that there are deaf and disabled people who are far right. Even if it seems like it would be obviously counter to our community’s interests.
Heather Mewshaw isn’t deaf herself, but she is a CODA — A child of deaf adults. So she’s more than familiar with Deaf culture.
