#WHUFC NEW STRIKER MEGATHREAD

Antonio has been a crucial source of goals since Moyes’ return to the London Stadium.

He is, however, our only striker, and with hamstrings like rubber bands it is crucial we sign someone to provide much-needed cover and competition.

But who...
First, some KPIs

npGA/90 = Non-penalty goals and assists per 90
npxGA/90 = Non-penalty expected goals and assists per 90
SoT/90 = Shots on target per 90
SoT% = % of shots on target
PAT/90 = Penalty area touches per 90
PassRec% = % of passes successfully received

(cont...)
Drib% = % of successful dribbles
Aerial% = % of aerial duels won
MAP/90 = Midfield and attacking 1/3 pressures per 90
T+I/90 = Tackles and interceptions per 90

These KPIs reflect the high-intensity pressing game that Moyes demands, as well as the attacking threat they present.
MICHAIL ANTONIO (19/20)

Crucial to Antonio’s success under Moyes has been his athleticism and intensity, attributes which lend themselves to the lone pressing forward role.

Finding a striker of a similar mold to Antonio is key, so they can step in to Moyes' system with ease.
BOULAYE DIA (20/21)

@ExWHUemployee reported at the start of the window that Dia was Moyes' #1 target - unsurprising given he's Ligue 1's second top goalscorer.

Despite reportedly being available for £15m - less than bids we've made elsewhere - interest seems to have died down.
JOSH MAJA (19/20; 20/21)

Maja's opportunities were limited last season, but his impact off the bench cannot be denied, boasting an impressive 0.98GA/90.

He's had more game time this season, but his form has been poor.

Pacey and just 22y/o though, is it worth bringing him in?
YOUSSEF EN-NESYRI (20/21)

A clinical poacher who has a knack for finding pockets in the penalty area, and is as comfortable finishing with his head as he is both his feet.

Despite us supposedly offering €40m, the striker has stated his desire to stay in Sevilla for the season.
BREEL EMBOLO (19/20)

A pacey, strong, dynamic dribbler that knows where the back of the net is, at just 23 Embolo's got the time and potential to develop into an elite talent.

A pressing force who wins the ball back well, he has led the line effectively in Marco Rose's 4-2-3-1.
ALASSANE PLEA (19/20)

With 10G+11A last season, and 7G+3A in just 13 starts this season, Plea would undoubtedly be a good addition.

It's uncertain whether Rose would sanction a move for such a key player in January though, nor whether Plea would walk away from CL football.
ALEXANDER ISAK (20/21)

Isak is a player who excites me, and at just 22y/o seems to be the perfect player to develop into Antonio’s successor.

Despite being 6'4", Isak still possesses a good amount of pace, and his physicality and direct style of play are surely Antonio-esque.
MARCUS THURAM (19/20)

A player who can score and create goals, his pace and positional awareness allow him to break defensive lines with ease.

Gladbach are keen to keep him until the summer, but with City and Bayern both interested, signing him might prove to be a challenge.
Listed below are a few other strikers we’ve been linked to, or who I think would be worth looking at.

Due to these players plying their trade outside of Europe's top five leagues, there is less freely available data, so the radar charts are a bit less detailed than those above.
HWANG HEE-CHAN (19/20)

1.32GA/90 in the league for Salzburg earned him a move to Leipzig, where his chances have been limited since his arrival.

The radar chart uses his Europa League stats, and a loan move could prove to be a no-brainer if he recaptures his Salzburg form.
ADAM ARMSTRONG (20/21)

Prolific, 23 y/o, and pacey - sounds like the perfect man for Moyes, right?

He doesn't recover the ball that often, but Blackburn do average more possession than us.

Given his pace, I'd imagine that Moyes will be able to turn him into a pressing force.
IVAN TONEY (20/21)

Another striker with a point to prove, Toney has successfully taken over from Ollie Watkins at Brentford, and form suggests a move to the Prem won’t be far off.

Ranking second in the Championship for GA/90, he's a great presser who poses a real aerial threat.
ODSONNE EDOUARD (20/21)

28G and 19A in all comps for Celtic last season, and a further 9G and 2A so far this time out, Edouard looks the real deal.

His price-tag might be a little steep, and he's been linked to some big clubs, but signing him could take us to the next level.
Who would you like to see us sign? Let me know...
