Earlier this week, I was talking to a @runforsomething supporter about her giving plans (outside of us!) this year. She explained to me how she was so excited about RFS alum @JCarrollFoy’s campaign for governor - but she was having trouble convincing her friends to give early. /1
“They all want to wait a little bit to see how things shake out. I know that’s wrong, but I’m stuck. What do I say?” she asked me. /2
I told her: That instinct to “wait and see” is one of many reasons why we’ve never had a Black woman governor. If people like your friends don’t make the choice to change, the status quo will persist. They’re active participants - they have a say in how things “shake out”! /3
In the next few years, lots of amazing young mostly candidates of color will run for higher office against established politicos who are mostly older white men. Don’t hesitate to jump in early, even it seems like a longshot. The outcome of these primaries is not inevitable! /4
Very few people close to them will tell these men it’s simply not their turn anymore.

You can do so with your $$. See a primary challenger - especially a woman and/or candidate of color - you think deserves a chance? Chip in - even a few bucks goes a long way. /5
This is about Jen, who you should donate to - https://secure.actblue.com/donate/jcf-founding-donor - but also about the many other amazing leaders who are running for higher office over the next few years (many b/c of the bench @runforsomething has built!)

Be as fearless as they are. Help them rise! /end
