Ruud Gullit & Gianluca Vialli. Former players who had a special connection to the club. Removed, under Ken Bates.
This has been happening before Abramovich took over so (whilst I understand the upset feeling) I'm surprised that others are surprised that this has happened.

Did I want Lampard to achieve and be successful? Of course I did. EVERYONE wanted that. But it didn't happen, which is a shame. I understand the raw feelings right now as I've been through this many a time as a Chelsea fan but at the end of the day, we have to move on.
I love Lampard and we wanted that dream of him being a successful manager too. But we don't always get what we want. We are 10th and could possibly miss out on Champions League football, which is unacceptable for a club of our size and stature. The board had to make a decision.
Succeeding under Lampard was not guaranteed, no matter how much we hoped for it. And of course, the board's decision could up being wrong. But it could also end up being right too. Football is a results-driven business now, there is no room for sentiment anymore, unfortunately.
A proportion of the fanbase are angry, which is understandable. But the bottom line is that the tenure (in the eyes of the board) didn't not work out and they had to make a change to stop us from slipping behind, something that can't happen to a club as big as ours. It can't.
I'm gutted it didn't work (even though I did have the belief it was too early for Frank) but this has been happening at our club for nearly 30 years now. So I'm not surprised anymore (even though of course we hope it wouldn't happen). Time to move on and back Tuchel/the players.
