Good evening, coming back from vacations to huge moves on the k-industry, but were slowly expected considering the huge current pressure how everybody has to take a side or d*e alone.
Do you guys like conspiracy theories? Let's get some. https://twitter.com/allkpop/status/1354385247513661446

For longer than a year, Big Hit has been trying to create their own distributor label, at the moment the ones distributing their albums are DreamUs, a SM/SKT venture. Distributors as we know take huge money from each album they produce (15% or more). https://twitter.com/Kpop_Herald/status/1148460067894677505
Years ago BIG3 companies created their own distributor to end with a mutual enemy (Kakao). That was until they separated like 3-4 years ago and YG created YG+ which manages VIBE (old Naver digital platform) and JYP just joined SM in DreamUs. https://twitter.com/ramyeonduo/status/939255878686875648
When this happened, when YG went SO-LO-LO, curiously Dispach started to come with continous rumors against YG and their artists.
(I want to clarify this doesn't mean the rumors come from other big3 but from the industry itself, faceless rich investors manipulate this industry)

Also curiously last year around May-June, BH's biggest asset started to suffer from constant rumors by this same media, and with this situation the news and hype about their own music distributor started to fade away.
But meanwhile their new platform weverse was growing.

What happened today, I bet it was something those investors that love to manipulate these companies weren't expecting months ago.
I bet last year they thought BH would continue with DreamUs because no way they would go back to kakao and BH and YG have never ever been close.

But then two big names came to the game: Naver and Tokopedia.
Why Tokopedia? This company is an unicorn that is close to get IPO via merge. This company realized kpop was huge and groups would help them to get their name out fast and it's working.
Which brings the next point...

Contrary of what everybody says, SuperM wasn't created to compete against BTS. SPM was created to take the spot YG was refusing to give to Blackpink with their lack of promotions but growing popularity.
Spot that would bring the huge amount of i-endorsements we are seeing now.

You know the fundamentals: when Backstreet Boys got popular N'SYNC came, when Britney Spears started to rise, Cristina Aguilera debuted.
To make this simple: BTS with Coca-Cola and Blackpink with Pepsi. That's the spot SM investors wanted.

But something unexpected happened; YG started to have massive scandals and lose money in 2019, which forced them to finally give Blackpink some of the long overdue promotions.
Soon YG realized this was a hit idea, especially overseas, but they still need to recover a lot.

So we have one company that is doing extremely well but that for some reason, haven't been able to create their own distribution label.
And we have a company with a distributor but with several internal problems after some scandals.
So what could they do with this information?

But don't think for a second these two companies would be able to do this alone while the industry sees from the back while getting nothing.
This is where Naver, CJ and more come. what we are seeing now are several "peace deals" where the rest get to win something as well.

The biggest losers at the moment? broadcasting channels. KBS, MBC and SBS. SM and JYP are doing their own, CJ and Kakao, now BH and YG.
The broadcasting channels that looked down idol industry for years are struggling for ratings while digital platforms are dominating.
