A hundred thousand dead! A wake-up call.
The shared wet dream fantasy of Tory cabinet ministers is for a right-wing coup and a population cull. Both are already well under way, and must be stopped.
Thread.
All along, Boris Johnson's aim has been “herd immunity”. This basically means letting the Covid virus run its course, decimating the population and doing little or nothing to stop it. It is a grossly negligent and irresponsible approach which has led to countless needless deaths.
Hence:
the delay in lockdown
coming out of it too soon
politicians breaking the rules
'Eat Out to Help Out'
re-opening schools at the wrong time
a confusing, ineffective tier scheme
expired equipment for hospitals
defective laptops for schools
absence of airport health checks
The cynical looting of the public purse is the biggest scandal of all.
Instead of qualified NHS staff being deployed to handle the national response, the 'track and trace' system was given to the notoriously unreliable Serco...
...while highly lucrative contracts to supply PPE were outsourced to absurdly unsuitable companies run by spivs, crooks and cronies of the Government.
Cronyism + 'chumocracy' = Corruption
Disaster capitalism in action. Staggering, overnight fortunes for those who have manifestly failed to fulfil their contracts properly or do what they were supposed to, at a terrible cost to the public – many of whom have paid dearly, with their lives.
A reminder. Those existing (i.e. not really living) below the poverty line now number some fifteen million, with the homeless around a quarter of a million, and soon to be many more.
Yet we have a record number of millionaires and billionaires. They've never had it so good! Patriotically doing their bit for the nation by stashing their ill-gotten gains abroad. That's why they, like Boris, are happy for the chaos to continue as long as possible.
The Covid debacle simultaneously relegates the inevitable Brexit fallout – another Tory disaster which threatens to break up the UK – to the background. But Brexit is nonetheless real and worsening daily as trade dries up and stocks run out.
The role of our extremely wealthy chancellor Rishi Sunak in all this is just to keep the country running on empty, dropping occasional crumbs to the masses from the rich man's table. This unholy scam is called 'trickle down' economics. The lion's share goes to those at the top.
The HS2 white elephant is a vanity project at enormous cost, when construction firms should be renewing decaying infrastructure. (There's less profit in that!)
Johnson's father, the egregious Stanley, has already netted several million disposing of property on the line's route.
Trump and Johnson are both as mad as a box of frogs. Good at simple, mindless slogans, less clever at putting together a single sentence of clear, coherent, rational thoughts that carries any cogent meaning. But who cares?
Nowadays the attention span of most people is about 15 seconds or less, before they change the channel or check their mobile phone. In Britain, the manufactured popular image of a bumbling, harmless buffoon is perfect cover to conceal the ugly, evil heart of a monster.
Speaking of which, it's clear Dominic Cummings still pulls the strings and that since dropping out of the limelight, he has had more time to indulge his favourite pastime of media manipulation, aka designing and distributing dead cats.
How Jeremy Hunt dares show his face in public, I do not know. This is the man who single-handedly undermined the NHS, leaving it desperately short of nurses and equipment and quite unprepared for the pandemic. Hunt should be in jail for pre-meditated mass manslaughter.
But the law seems petrified of these brutes and unable to lift a finger bringing them to justice.
Parliament has been neutered. Political opposition, police, the judiciary and the press of course have all been 'nobbled'.
There are no effective checks on the power of an increasingly authoritarian, one-party state. Rights and liberties are being lost, week by sordid week. The Opposition ought to be 20 or 30 points ahead.
Where are they? In disarray.
So it's Goodbye to the old, the sick, the weak, the disabled, the poor, ethnic minorities, migrants, foreigners, travellers, Celts... sorry, you don't count.
Who's next? It could be you or me. Remember.
And forget forensics, fishermen, Farage, fracking, folks with a 'funny tinge', fossil fuel pollution, climate crisis, Covid, Brexit... since none of them really matter to the party in power, whose sole aims are self-enrichment and entrenchment.
Tory social policies echo the National Front of the 1970s: selfish, bullying, nasty English nationalism, racial discrimination and white supremacy.
Economically they are still in thrall to 1980s neo-liberalism...
...slash welfare spending, privatise public services, sell off state industries and utilities for a quick buck, leading to long-term decline, an inferior service and a nice little dividend for all those 'bold, dynamic' private shareholders.
“To those that have, shall be given.”
This toxic mix is a lethal cocktail for the vast majority – the masses that the Tories want to cull.
Even now, behind closed doors, the Government are *congratulating* themselves on achieving the world's worst Covid death rate.
Do you recall IDS and his pals clapping and cheering in the House of Commons when the motion finally to offer underpaid, struggling nurses a pay rise was thrown out? That's who they really are.
If you voted Conservative, you are one of them.
For the rest of us, so long as this party of wreckers and destroyers stays in office, things can only get worse. Imagine that.
We urgently need organized resistance to remove them from power. The sooner the better!
