Wednesday morning and it's eviction time at Euston Square Gardens.

Police here in full force.

But HS2 Rebellion are staying put.
We have word that there may be as many as 12 activists below ground in the system of tunnels they have built for this very occasion.
Though some remain in the trees giving speeches and singing.
This activists say most of their members are below ground to prevent the development of HS2 to go ahead.
He believes it could take "weeks and weeks" to clear them out.

Here is the tunnel entrance.
John, a student in London, says there are great risks from being below ground.

"there visceral fears of being below ground but it shows how strongly we believe that in allowing HS2 to go ahead we're heading for disaster."
John, originally from the US, said those below ground have means of evading capture.

These include escaping down the many tunnels built, locking themselves in and digging further tunnels.
Eviction officers appear to be clearing away pallets from the camp.

But other than that it looks like dozens of police, bailiffs and ambulances remain on standby.
This is the scene from the Gardens right now.

Lots of shouting going on from the trees.

A tent of some kind has been erected by either bailiffs or police.
Everything has just kicked off, bailiffs have managed to evict one of the protesters.
The young man arrested is known to the New Journal. He is one of the many homeless who has over the months joined the HS2 Rebellion cause at Euston Square Gardens.
He has now been arrested and is up against the rails.

He shouted to his fellow activists: "I tried."
It appears the young man, who has been at the camp for some months, was outside it and tried to jump in and get down the tunnel.

There was a tussle with bailiffs and they led him out. He was then handed over to police.
Buckingham Palletts is what they've named the structure around tunnel.
People are bringing protesters coffees but bailiffs won't let them have them...
The dark green tent and white and yellow tent have been erected to access the tunnels.
Looks like there's movement, specialist HS2 bailiffs are surrounding the tunnel entrance.
These are called 'N. E. T Enforcement Agents'.
They also dress like specialist Met officers...
One protester we met but didn't want to be named said she had been pulled from the camp at 3am and was not allowed to retrieve her bags until just now.

She had been extremely distressed.

She's says she was not even allowed into Euston Train Station to use the toilets.
They are now extending the perimeters around the park.

Whether for safety or to keep the world's press away, who knows...
HS2 have brought in their rope experts in.
A number of protesters remain in the trees.
View right now.

Everything has gone very quiet.

Apart from the speaker someone has set up that's blaring live music out from an unknown singer.
Cherry pickers assembling.

Looks like they're going to tackle the protesters in the trees first.
Singer is now singing House of the Rising Sun, if anyone is interested
Protesters in the trees are worried about bailiffs getting violent with them, a friend who is down on the ground has said.

It is unknown if they have planned to secure themselves to secure themselves to the tree in anyway.

"This is an illegal eviction," she says.
It appears that the bailiffs are trying to cut the tree activist safety lines
Police climbers are now surrounding the tree, they have cut their safety lines.

"They are putting their lives in danger by doing that," Dr Denise Baker, activist-journalist, said.

Cherry pickers with specialist N. E. T officers about to talk to protesters
The officers are now talking with the HS2 activists.
We cannot hear clearmt they're saying.
It sounds like they're giving them an ultimatum: get down or we'll get you down.
Quite a crowd has now gathered around the HS2 site in Euston Square Gardens, complete with police, HS2 workers, N. E. T Enforcement officers, paramedics, journalists, photographers, supporters and members of the public.
One of the male protesters wearing a balaclava has ziplined out of the tree house and is now dangling in mid air
Cherry pickers are returning to the ground.

No protesters have chosen to go with them.

Protesters are now making a speech, they are saying it is an: "illegal eviction".
Police officers now are asking members of the public to leave the area.

They are saying that under Covid-19 laws they are not allowed to be outside except for essential reasons.

Bit embarrassing... But looks like the cherry pucker has broken down...
He's still hanging on in there...

#HS2Rebellion
This is the air system the protesters in the tunnel are using to breathe
Update: enforcement officers have gone up in the cherry picker again.

Protesters are talking to them but show no sign of wanting to come down.
Definitely just saw one of the protesters offer the officers a biscuit...

The essence of a peaceful protest surely?

Enforcement officers have now climbed into the trees
They've started throwing down protester bags and signs.

While protesters on the ground shout: "Show us your documents, where is the court order?"

#HS2Rebellion #HS2
What we are hearing through speakers on the ground is being recorded from inside the tree camp.

A woman protester is saying to officers: "This is an illegal eviction. What authority do you have to be here?"
The protester is now saying: "You are putting our lives at risk."

She seems to be asking the officers to stop cutting part of the structure.
The covering of the structure has now been removed.

Protesters seem to be lying down.
One of the protesters has been put in the cherry picker
He has sung all the way down, to cheers from supporters
He has been led away by enforcement officers.

The cherry picker is going back up to get another protester.
The second protester arriving down to rounds of applause from onlookers

A third protester down, he too will now be led away by the HS2 enforcement
