The issue isn’t about a debate about whether homophobes should be healed or whether they deserve to die. The issue is that it’s not Melusi’s responsibility to care.

It’s so easy for straight Black people to understand this when it comes to racism but somehow our brains get confused when it’s about queer people asserting their rights to express themselves as crudely or as delicately as they like and to choose the strategies that serve them

Heteronormativity has you more upset about the hype than it does about the reality of transphobic new homophobic murders. Taking Melusi literally is a political choice.

Anyway, there are a ton of people here smarter then me who have been abused and derided their whole lives who can make these points better than me and are tweeting brilliant takes like @Kabelo_SM and @bevditsie and many many more. Let’s not do this fake game people.
