Cosmetic Formulation: Part 1.
Creating a product is more than just mixing a few active ingredients together. In reality, designing a product is an art. You need to be able to visualize how the product look like, how the user will see it, touch it, smell it, use it & enjoy it.

Not to mention it needs to do what it says it will do, it needs to look beautiful, easy to use, comfortable during and after application.
It needs to be stable enough to withstand being shaken, hot and high pressure during transportation and over the next 2 years of shelf life.
It needs to be able to be safe, well preserved even when our fingers are dip into it every day and night. The smell and color and texture must be retained for the next 2 years.
And that's just the first part.

Its no wonder why some Cosmetic Science Degree are taught in Art Universities - example being The London Collage of Fashion, University of Arts London.
It is indeed a work of art (and science).
