[1] Yesterday, my staff and I witnessed a horrific suicide at the AISH building beside our office. Someone plunged many stories to his/her death on the sidewalk. Naked. Lying dead on the sidewalk. Blocks away from our Prov Leg grounds, the Halls of Provincial power.

[2] This is the second death within a year or so from that same place. People living on the edge of society and life. Why do we let things get this bad? Death only blocks away from our Provincial Capital. We MUST immediately address cuts to AISH and social programs.

[3] No recession should cause further eroding of basic human compassion and care. With all the financial experts, tax wizards, lawyers, and MBAs within our great city and Province, how can we not provide greater funding to crucial social services like AISH? Come on!!!!

[4] Yes, I like being an entrepreneur. Productivity and profit are awesome! But when I see evidence of intense despair resulting in death just ONE BLOCK from my own office window, it’s evidence that our collective “profit” is NOT reaching the most needy in our community!
