/ Following the 20th QAnon telegram channels saw a drop in views, though in general the more popular channels are steadily gaining new followers and their post view counts are going up (keep in mind there is probably an influx of researchers, journalists and voyeurs in this)
/ There has also been a fair amount of post forwarding that has been taking place in these channels as their content is spread. The comments per posts have also appeared to increase and the volume of messages per days in chats associated to the channels are steady or increasing
/ Part of the growth is probably the increased attention on the movement as it has moved to Telegram. But also there is still a alevel of enthusiasm and "research"/"decoding" going on in the comments and chats of the QAnon community.
/ This is possible for 3 reasons imo: A) QAnon influencers are sustaining the movement without the need for "Q" by forming a super community; B) each influencer still provides their interpretation of events to their followers; C) increase inclusion of Christian tropes
/ A) provides a central place to get information from those who have garnered the trust of QAnon adherents. B) provides intimate relationships with influencers & their flavour of QAnon. C) provides a familiar language and apocalyptic system free from human limitations & failures
/ an example of this is some QAnon influencers are promoting concepts and adopting language from the Sovereign Citizen movement. This has create an concerning new flavour of QAnon conspiracy theories and is a trend to watch out for.
/ presently some QAnon influencers are returning to Qdrops from 2018 to cover two points: A) do not lose faith as part of what is happening now is part of the plan where the "public" have to be given a taste of the dystopian world when under deep state control.
/ this also fits the apocalyptic concept of suffering and tribulations that the chosen few will need to go through prior to attain the promised golden age. This also provides an indefinite timeframe as they do not know what the threshold for action against the deep state is.
/ B) they are also promoting Qdrops that aligned with the message that "Q" and trump played their part in giving the world four years to awaken and get the chosen few ready to continue the battle once Trump and "We" are gone.
/ if B) becomes a narrative that sticks with the community. QAnon influencers will gain much more power and influence and power to dictate the communities behaviour.
/ to this end I have a recomende doreassure pointy hat should be targeted to create more friction with QAnon influencers and a criticism on some of the recent reporting on QAnon.
/ presently these influencers are able to raise money from their community of adherents from "donations" or "subscriptions" via various services. This is one place where pressure needs to be placed on. These individuals should not be able to provit off of an extremist movement
/ they should not be able to profit from inciting violence, by creating an environment that fomented an insurrection. They should not be able to profit from radicalization or for attacking core democratic institutions.
/ QAnon is not cite, or fringe, or a curiosity. It's not funny, not only have families been destroyed, but acts of violence have been commited and core democratic functions have been attacked. Reporting and discussions around the movement need to reflect that.
/ Your time to mock and joke about how weird QAnon is was about two and half years ago. Especially since Jan 6, it is long past the time of treating QAnon as a curiosity. It needs to be treated with the respect it deserves in light of the threat it poses.
