I hire Public Defenders. It's hard to give specific advice because in my hiring committees, we don't always agree on what's important, what's a turn-off, etc. But here's the things that we all agree on: 1/
1) Talk to us like real lawyers. We all hate it when someone comes in saying "I want to ensure that the state is put to its burden" or whatever. Fuck that. We're here to win. Tell us you want to win. Tell us you want to beat prosecutors and get people out of cages. 2/
2) Don't interview defensively. If you got the interview, it means we're interested. Quit trying to justify the fact that your in the room. You're in the room because you're qualified and we're into you. 3/
