@EricGordon_CEO opened meeting with School Board Recognition month, thanking the board for their tireless efforts during a challenging year. Each Board of Ed member was given a face mask with the @CLEMetroSchools logo embroidered on the front as a thank you.
@EricGordon_CEO and Karen Thompson introduced the district’s vaccination plan, noting that the effort is their top priority and remains, “very, very fluid.”
The district’s vaccine plan is centered around 5 Guiding Principles.
1. Vaccine Edu campaign
2. Easy access
3. No cost to staff
4. Incentive to receive vaccine
5. Paid time off to receive vaccine and recovery from potential side effects
1. Will introduce vaccine plan via email sent out tonight. Includes Facts vs Myths, survey for employees to express interest in vaccination. Also, district has started a social campaign to spread awareness using #CSMDSafe. Will do public event where school leaders are vaccinated.
2. Vaccine is free and being funded by ESSER II & FEMA fund. 2 “pod sites” at East Technical HS and Max Hayes HS. Will have 6 lanes, waiting area for adverse reactions, staffed by EMS, firefighters, school nurses, and overseen by public health officials.
2 cont. Will be open 7 - 7 weekdays, 8 - 12 weekends. Will utilize as many staff as needed to ensure “high volume, effective” vaccination efforts. The below diagram shows the 5 priority groups in order of receiving vaccine.
3. Vaccine will be free for all district employees. Also, employees will be allowed to use work time to get their vaccine during work hours. Some custodial staff may be moved to evening shifts to help clean up vaccination sites after vaccination hours.
4. To provide an incentive, all employees who get vaccinated before April 3, 2021 will receive (1) Special Privilege Day(personal day) for the 2021 - 2022 school year. Non-Union employees are also eligible for this incentive. Board will vote on incentive later in the meeting.
