Dudes: therapy is great.

Going into therapy my ability to identify my own emotions was crap. When asked how I felt I woild say what I thought.

Without the ability to identify my emotions I was helpless to control them. Any strong emotion would end up controlling me... 1/
With therapy, over time I developed a reflex to look at how I was feeling. At first I could only identify them in course terms and after I had been taken for a ride. With practice I could catch things as they were happening and redirect bad situations into a better path...
Eventually I got to where I could usually see how my emotions were changing direction as things were happening and often anticipate how a situation would make me feel.

This gave me the ability to weather more difficult situations and improve outcomes...
It's given me the tools to recognize and predict how my actions will affect others and to better recognize emotional states and outcomes with others. With this I can improve all of my relationships and, using empathy, earn more respect from my peers...
Young men are seldom given the tools to manage their emotions and grow into adults who cope with strong emotions using apathy, harmful stoicism, or not at all.

You can't fix things you don't understand and don't have the tools for. Therapy teaches understanding and tools.
