/ I have now read the story in question. Marjorie Greene, or maybe one of the people she says "manage her pages", liked comments in which people said that various Democratic politicians should be killed.

/ First: If I had hired someone to "manage my pages", I would have made sure that they were not the sorts of people who would like comments saying that other people should be executed, that "a bullet to the head would be quicker", etc.
/ If, somehow, I messed up and hired such a person, I would take responsibility for my lapse in judgment, rather than trying to cast myself as a victim. After all, *I* would have hired such a person to write IN MY NAME, without making sure that they were even minimally decent.
/ It is, I think, not that hard to make sure that people you hire *to pretend to be you* are decent enough not to support murder. It's a pretty low bar! And yet, somehow, Marjorie Greene thinks that HER failure just shows that everyone is out to get her.
/ The idea that if I had screwed up in this way, people were only outraged because I was such a terrifying threat to their goal of Socialism, if it occurred to me at all, would make me think: time to step away from the keyboard and pursue a life of quiet good works.
/ Second: I never, EVER want to hear anyone describe today's GOP as the "party of personal responsibility."
Never. Not even once.
If Donald Trump's endless tantrums and the GOP's embrace of the culture of victimhood weren't enough, this pitiful dodge should be.

/ When decent people screw up, they admit their mistakes and take responsibility for them. They do not try to claim that the only reason people are so upset is because "I will always defend our values", or "because I represent you. And they absolutely hate it."
/ They say: I was wrong. I am sorry. Your outrage is wholly justified. I will try to do better. If I fail, you should be outraged all over again, and I should find another line of work.
