if bighit were buying out small groups who they thought had potential it would be fine, but they’re buying out artists who’ve already established themselves independently, and will be directly profiting from that . it’s all the benefits w/o the effort, baso stealing their success
it’s bighits way to quick success without all the hardships, a reassurance for when bts enlists and a way to put profits back in the company where they will focus it on their organic groups, not their bought, and it’s kind of naive to think otherwise
they’re monopolising and that’s bad like idk what else to tell u . u could argue it’s a good business move but it’s a shady one since all the companies and groups they’re acquiring have already put in all the leg work to get their success and bighit are piggy backing off them

pls don’t twist my meaning - bighit are a company and they’re doing what they think is right for their companies value, but that doesn’t mean it’s a GOOD thing overall for the artists or the industry mainly bc monopolisation is not actually a good thing
and i’m only focusing on bighit bc they’re the only company that have been buying out already incredibly successful groups . if u want to share ur opinion about the big3 (who are just as shit) make your own thread
reminder that nobody is “shocked” or “surprised” that a business is acting for profit - that’s what businesses do. we’re saying it’s kind of weird that they’re buying out successful groups/companies that didn’t actually need buying out, to monopolise, which is bad.

and y’all don’t think it’s weird that as soon as seventeen became the second most streamed kpop artist directly behind bts , bighit bought pledis out . they literally bought their most eligible competition, control their popularity and put the profit back the main bighit artists
and what i mean by eligible competition is : a group in a company that is not part of the big3, bc they can’t buy out the big3. and like i’m talking from my studies, buying competition is exactly how companies become monopolies and gain success fast
i just know somebody will come along with “how is it stealing their success if they bought them out” the point is that they didn’t NEED buying out and that’s why it’s “stealing” in the sense that their success didn’t and shouldn’t have been taken away and distributed out
reminder that monopolising is not “the most obvious thing to do” monopolising is not a good thing and there’s a reason why there’s laws surrounding this literally everywhere with a democracy . companies should not buy other companies success for their own gain
it shouldn’t have to be spelled out for people honestly but here it is - a company having enough wealth to just buy other small successful companies until there’s no competition apart from those at their same profit margins IS A BAD THING they should work for themselves !

a company might want to become a monopoly bc the idea of almost or complete sole power and dominance is appealing to them but it doesn’t mean they should actually become one bc it’s harmful to the economy and the industries
babes the argument was never about bighit being more capitalistic, it’s about bighit being JUST AS capitalistic as the big3, they’re absolutely no different but the acquiring of already successful groups and selling fcking WATER is weird
