the "episodes" in ff2 and dq2 carry a lot of similarities to 80s manga and anime. this maybe is a real contrast to crpgs trying to emulate the narrative language of gamebooks and tabletop campaigns
now jump forward and compare witcher 3 and final fantasy 15. they're obviously taking (way too many) cues from television, to a diffused and remediated extent that only descending into weirdo nativism could or would delineate different points of influence or reference
if I was paid a hack salary I would be able to then say this is Globalization in Video Games and people would nod their head. and I would say thank you, buy my book. this is otherwise a relatively pointless observation
