I don't want to sound like a jerk in any way when I say this, but if you're shy ON ZOOM CLASSES, you really need to work on some sort of speaking skills. Just because you don't feel comfortable doesn't mean you can screw the rest of your group over in a discussion or a project.
Nobody can coddle you or your bad habits when you are at University. So many people are throwing the "mUh SoCiAl AnXiEtY" excuse when they probably don't even have it, or they do have it and have not made any steps to remediate the disorder.
Why does our culture glorify mental illness? Some will say it is an effort to bring "awareness" to it but it does the exact opposite. It makes it chic, cool or trendy. Please people, go to therapy and work out your problems about being shy, or read some sort of book, anything.
I know many other people who have made the effort to overcome shyness (including myself) and they don't ever regret doing so.
Being diagnosed with a mental illness isn't fun, it sucks.
We have to bring awareness and make mental health treatment more accessible.
Better this than the stupid ol' "i HaVe dEpReSsIoN/oCd/AdD/bIpOlAr i'M sO QuIrKy" crap.

Maybe it appeals to some people, but it's really disturbing and quite sad to see someone wear this as a badge of honor.
