A thread of Salah’s best big game performances and clutch moments 🔽

Long thread 😉
Since he joined Liverpool 17/18 Salah's undoubtedly been been the best big game player in the world after Messi and Ronaldo. Here are some of his best performances, starting with the Champions League
City H CL

Liverpool were expected to be knocked out by the team considered the best in the world at the time

Salah had one of his most most impactful games ever, creating 4 chances, getting an excellent assist, and scoring the 1st goal while being involved in the buildup.

City A CL

One of Salah's most underrated performances. Liverpool conceded early and City could've easily come back in the tie.

Salah scored with pressure piling to make it 1-1 and gave some great passes on the counter

Got Liverpool through
Roma H

Salah's best performance ever in his career. Roma simply didn't know how to stop him. Scored a screamer, chipped one over the keeper on the counter, and got 2 brilliant assists all in 75 minutes.

Unstoppable, arguably the best semifinal performance of the decade
First player of the decade to get 4 nonpenalty g/a in a single CL semifinal match. Yes, Messi and Ronaldo have not done this.

THREE big chances created
7 Chances created
4 shots ( all on target )
2 goals
2 assists
3/3 dribbles

In 75 minutes 🤯
He got injured in the Champions League final but he was a key part in the CL win the next season.

Liverpool were in the death group in the group stages, and needed to win by 2 goals or win 1-0 to go through to knockouts.

Our best individual performance in the CL win. The most important with the Barca goals.

1 excellent goal
2 big chances created
4 key passes
3 dribbles
3 shots, 2 on target

Robbed two assists, an excellent pre assist, and had defenders on strings the whole game.
Bayern A

Liverpool needed to win at Bayern Munich, who had scored 13 goals in their last 3 games. While Mane was the main star, Salah had a solid performance, providing the best assist of his career and putting another chance on a plate.
Tottenham CL final

Salah converted the penalty in the Champions League final.

Considering top players like Griezmann Robben and Ronaldo have missed crucial penalties in Champions League finals, it certainly was impressive to score.

Salzburg H

Not talked about enough. Salah scored the 3rd and 4th goals with two clinical finishes in a 4-3 win.

Had he not scored these goals and other future results stayed the same, Liverpool would get
knocked out in group stages.
Atletico H

Liverpool needed to win by 2 goals and Salah stepped up, easily being the best forward on the pitch.

He played deeper then usual, creating chances and showing great involvement. Unlucky not to score what
would be the greatest goal of his life https://streamable.com/carrtm
FOUR key passes
111 touches 🤯
5 shots ( 2 on target )
7 / 8 dribbles completed

And he got a pre assist for the first goal.
Salah ended the 17/18 Cl campaign with the most non penalty g/a and the most knockout g/a after firmino. Comparing his knockout numbers to Ronaldo (right):

3.6 1.4 Key Passes per90
1.2 0.4 Big Chances Created per90
1.0 0.5 Nonpenalty goals per90
0.0 0.7 Big Chances Missed per90
Those were better numbers then what Messi averaged in La Liga. All in the toughest games of the season.

He currently has the 2nd most nonpenalty g/a (28) in the Champions League since he joined Liverpool behind Messi (30). He has the most knockout g/a as well.
In the league, Salah's equally impressive.

In 17/18 against top 4 contenders Tottenham, Salah got a goal to go ahead and completed 5/6 dribbles.

It was his ridiculous goal in stoppage time to go ahead 2-1 that made this performance iconic though.

One of his best goals ever

Man City were at the time unbeaten when coming to Anfield.

Salah was electric, scoring a 40 yard screamer and winning the ball back to set up Mane for another goal. Liverpool broke City's unbeaten run winning 4-3
In 18/19 Salah was on a goal drought but was able to make the difference when it mattered. He created a big chance with an excellent cross, but won Liverpool the match in the 80th min with a goal from his own half. This kept Liverpool 1 point from City https://twitter.com/LFC/status/1345762343037378561?s=20
The next game he was able to step up in a huge game against 3rd place Chelsea, with creating 4 chances and scoring the best goal of his life from outside the box. One of his biggest iconic moments ever. https://twitter.com/LFC/status/1239950898748706816?s=20
He won Liverpool the match early in the season in 19/20 against Arsenal, converting a penalty and scoring a brilliant goal by spinning the defender. A key game in Liverpool's Premier League win. https://twitter.com/LFC/status/1282963690283835392?s=20
He scored the 2nd goal in a 2-1 win against Man City, which was clearly the biggest game of the season. He was a goal threat the whole game almost scoring from outside the box and looked sharp on the ball as well.

Underrated performance. https://twitter.com/LFC/status/1278237152418160641?s=20
He broke his curse against United at Anfield with a solid performance. While he created 3 chances and one big chance, it was his goal from a brilliant run from his own box to settle the match that made this an iconic game. https://twitter.com/LFC/status/1350768076833304576?s=20
At leeds on the first gameweek, Salah was quite literally the only player to do anything to win. He looked like Messi the whole game, with a ridiculous finish on a half volley, 5 key passes, and 7 dribbles.

Singlehandedly won the team the match 4-3 with a hattrick.
Salah broke his curse at Old Trafford in the FA cup against a full strength United side. He scored the team's two goals from clinical finishes and looked threatening the whole game. Unfortunately, this wasn't enough as the team lost 3-2.
