Today the Biden Admin promised "the U.S. will maintain its steadfast support for Israel...the United States will continue its longstanding policy of opposing one-sided resolutions and other actions in international bodies that unfairly single out Israel." https://usun.usmission.gov/remarks-at-a-un-security-council-open-debate-on-the-situation-in-the-middle-east-via-vtc-2/
But the Obama-Biden Admin failed to uphold this "longstanding policy" by not vetoing the anti-Israel UNSCR 2334. So what is the going on? Well, the explanation was revealed by Sec. of State Kerry on December 28, 2016 https://www.timesofisrael.com/full-text-of-john-kerrys-speech-on-middle-east-peace-december-28-2016/
Kerry said: "...we made clear...that it was possible that if the resolution were to be balanced and it were to include references to incitement and to terrorism, that it was possible the United States would then not block it, that – if it was balanced and fair."
So, the Obama-Biden Admin logic is even if the text wrongly states places such as the Old City of Jerusalem is "occupied Palestinian territory" and presents false equivalence b/w Palestinian terrorism and settlements, the U.S. won't veto b/c it is allegedly "balanced and fair"

This makes the Biden Admin commitment today using carefully crafted wording "of opposing one-sided resolutions and other actions in international bodies that unfairly single out Israel" appear to ring hollow.
Biden was the VP of the most anti-Israel Admin in U.S. history and has appointed many of the same anti-Israel advisors in his Admin. I hope today was not another attempt to provide deceitful assurances. The Trump Admin showed what it means to truly stand with Israel at the UN.
