Trump Trial Step One: Grassley swears in Leahy to chair over the proceedings.
Trump Trial Step Two: Leahy swears in all Senators as a court of impeachment
Impeachment Trial Nerd Note: In 1876 when the Senate tried the former Secretary of War William Belknap, the Chief Justice swore in the President Pro Tempore.
Sen. Rand Paul R-KY challenges the constitutionality of holding this trial of former President Trump. Senate voting to table Paul's point of order. A 'Yes' vote is to defeat Paul's challenge. Note how many 'No' votes Paul gets. It could give a strong clue on the outcome.
Senate votes 55-45 to table the Paul point of order. That should pretty well tell us that the Senate is unlikely to convict President Trump of anything in this trial.
The 5 Republicans who voted with Democrats on the Paul point of order:

Collins ME
Murkowski AK
Romney UT
Sasse NE
Toomey PA
The oddity of 2021 is that the Senate is approving an organizing resolution for the Trump impeachment trial before passing one for the full Senate. The trial will resume on February 9.
