The reason:
Unmarried binational couples have been separated since the travel bans were implemented in March - this isn't about vacations or whims; we just want to quarantine safely with our significant others after 10+ months apart like so many American couples are able to do

Safe reunification is possible! Germany allows unmarried partners to visit with documentation of relationship. I was able to travel there and back with:
- Negative test before travel
- Following local restrictions
- Negative test upon return (Day 6)
- Full two-week quarantine
- Negative test before travel
- Following local restrictions
- Negative test upon return (Day 6)
- Full two-week quarantine
It made an enormous difference, but I now return to the heartbreak of not knowing when I can see him again - others are not even as lucky as I am.
