White creators: supporting Black creators does not stop at donating once a year. If you want to create a healthier environment for Black creators, support us more than just during Black History Month! SHARE the content of black creators! Collaborate with them! Follow them!
You don't have to follow every black creator you see, obviously, but it rings kind of hollow when you treat black creators like a token to prove how racist you aren't but do the bare minimum to even uplift them in online creator spaces
A lot of the times, you simply allowing them to drop their links in response to a tweet can allow for the racists in your following to attack them. Show up for black people if you want to help them.
Do it consistently, it's not a one and done thing. The Tokenism is obvious and it doesn't feel great.
Likewise it literally does nothing for us to just shout us out one time a year. Like. There's 11 other months of the year we'd love to be promoted too lmao
Here's a great thread on how to train your algorithms to be less white centered https://twitter.com/SleepyMia145/status/1354138423137861633?s=19
More importantly, you should be denouncing racism on your platform lmao? If you can't do that and complain that "I already donated to BLM last June wahh!!" It comes off completely disingenuous and performative
