1/ My dad is 70 and is battling liver cancer. He completed 15 rounds of radiation and has yet to receive his vaccine. Doctors have stated that he wouldn't survive covid. Meanwhile, in Jeff City, a hearing is being held for a bill that would nullify federal gun laws in MO. #moleg
2/ HB 85 (federal nullification) prevents law enforcement officers from enforcing or assisting in the enforcement of federal gun laws. Officers found enforcing these laws will be open to litigation and be may permanently ineligible to serve as a law enforcement officer. #moleg
3/ HB 85 puts MO law enforcement in grave danger. It's a shame that this is where the MO GOP's priorities lie during a pandemic. It'd be great if these legislators could focus on distributing vaccines rather than shoving their extremist gun agenda down our throats. #moleg
4/ I’ll add that the anger I feel towards one of the bill’s sponsors who is sitting in this small hearing room, where air flow is minimal, after closing session for a week due to Covid outbreak, without a mask is indescribable. I haven’t hugged my dad in 10 months. #moleg
5/ A transphobic man just testified in favor of the nullification bill. He stated that “I can say I’m a man because I know my gender.” He then proceeded to tell us that slaves came to America for their freedoms. There’s so much to unpack here. #moleg
