You don't have a system for setting and completing goals.

You need some help.

Here's how I goal plan.

The system works for anything.

đź”»THREADđź”»
I start by writing down the overall goal.

Then break it into smaller goals in order.
Called Macro tasks.

Macro tasks are checkpoints I need to complete the bigger goal.
Macro tasks have smaller goals under them.

Called Micro tasks.

Micro tasks are actions to be done.

If I have an idea on how to complete a micro task.

I add a bullet point under them.
Once I complete the micro-tasks I will have hit a checkpoint. (completed the macro goal)

When all of the Macro Tasks are done, I will have hit the overall goal.
Unexpected things can occur.

If this happens, I will update my goal outline as needed.

Once all of the Micro and Macro tasks are completed, I've hit my goal.
TL: DR

Big goals are broken up, turned into medium goals.

Medium goals are divided into easier, less time-consuming goals.

This gives a sense of accomplishment as you're getting things done.

And helps with patience to hit the overall goal.
Here's what my outline would look like for losing weight.
