I have my exit interview with my BCU commander tomorrow. My final day on Borough is on Friday as i have taken off 3 weeks as leave before i start my new role, its got me thinking. I joined the job in 2006 & since then i 10 years in uniform in pretty much every role on borough i
2) been on Response, town centre team, Safer neighbourhoods (where i ended up meeting my amazing wife), did some work in intel/ops, lots of work in GT (public order comms) back to Response - i loved ERPT. I then was the specials coordinator - those people are incredible! Quite a
3) few of them i helped prep to get into the job full time. (Im still proud of this every time i see them as they are incredible officers!) I then dipped my Sgts board, totally gutted i almost resigned HOWEVER i moved to the Detective world - thinking i would hate it but i needed
4) a change. This reinvigorated me, starting off in CSU (Domestic violence/abuse) moved over to do some CID work where i met my best mate & got to work along side a Detective i hold in extremely high regard whom i have know for a long time. I have worked on some amazing cases but
5) also some incredibly harrowing ones. I then moved into my current unit dealing with online child sex abuse & exploitation. For me this role has provided me with some of the most challenging work i have ever done but i truly enjoy it... most of the time. I think about all the
6) roles i have covered on BCU and have loved all of them in thier own unique ways. They are all different from each other all with genuinely vital work to be done. Different stresses, different strains, different priorities but the same end goal. The biggest thing i have learnt
7) is that moving areas can be daunting & downright nerve-racking but actually can be really good. If thats what you need! I find that when i feel like something isn't so challenging anymore that i need to change to focus on learning more or challenging myself. I now can't wait
8) for my new role to start, i cant tell you how excited i am but I'm sure ill come back at some point, for me probably on promotion😉.... possibly at some point when i need a change 😁 i am proud of what i have achieved and the people i have worked with 😎💙
