Everyone has been speaking on it but I want to be clear on where I stand I.e Ninja saying it’s not his job to address/educate regarding racism & white privilege I just want to say it absolutely is & to think otherwise is exactly why so much of the gaming community is toxic AF.
When you have a community and influence it is your job to make it a good community. This is why streaming etc is so hard. You’re not just an entertainer; you’re a bit of a community manager too!
Teaching and educating is not this big formal scary thing. We teach and learn all the time. It’s one thing to say “I’m not 100% sure on this so I don’t want to speak on it but let me direct you to XYZ or I need to research more myself” it’s another to say not my problem.
Also if someone comes into your stream to say the N*word. That’s not a troll. That’s a racist (troll). You have to be a bit racist to think a slur is funny or a gotcha moment.
I’m also tired of white men saying slurs are trolling they just ignore while it’s an assault on that entire community’s existence. I get that those words don’t hurt you. They’re not meant for you. But the lack of empathy is just. Astounding.
So many influencers and outlets alike toss their hands in the air and say “that’s just the internet” but no. You only care(d) about the views so you don’t turn away anyone. Even the bigots and sexists bc their money is green too. You should be ashamed and embarrassed.
ALSO I think a lot of people are hung up on the “job” part. It’s true he’s not paid to do it directly but most moral obligations are not financially compensated. “It’s not my job to wear a mask outside or social distance or recycle or” but ideally ppl are trying to be 
good

To go back to the slur/hate comment point so many motherfuckers tell me to “ignore it” and that they’re just “haters and trolls” meanwhile it’s actually a very real indication of how much some folks in this community HATE my existence. Like truly hate who I am and that I’m here.
The more we, as a community, make excuses for the bigotry and sexism etc in the games space the longer it will remain here. Meanwhile so many privileged folks will look at me like “the internet amirite?? I get hate comments too. Anyway - “
