I dont think any western government has done a bad job in the last 12 months of COVID. All those trotting out their 2020 hindsight and narrow focus content are doing it because of politics and ignorance of how complex systems of governance work

Can we all learn lessons, yes, have mistakes been made, absolutely, but complex systems just don't work like people often think they work

My main issue has been a lack of intelligent discourse, especially from the media, about how connected societies can balance the harm from one course of action with another e.g. lockdowns

This is where we need to do better, and of course, the well-known issues of capacity and resilience, supply chain dependencies and risk communication
