I think that we, as armys, slept way too much on the gift Seokjin gave to US on HIS birthday. So here it is an educational thread about ABYSS that you should read if you are still not sure about what the song is about

First thing to know, this song is a song that Seokjin realised for free on SoundCloud two hours before his birthday. Let me say it one more time, on HIS birthday he decided to realise a song for us.

He realised the song and sent us this message with it. A message that you should definitely read and if you already have, you should read it again because its way too important.

This note clearly explains the feelings Seokjin was experiencing. He was in pain, he felt suffocated by his oppressive thoughts, he felt hopeless and decided to write all his feelings down as therapy, to help him exorcise all his dark thoughts.

We know Seokjin is a very bright person, smiles a lot, is always the light and the joy of the room, he himself said that he always tries to stay happy in the outside even if in reality he is in pain or feels sad because seeing others happy makes him happy

He was the one that first used the sentence "use me", use me to find your own happiness and thousands of people everyday find joy thanks to him. I'm saying all this to make you realize how important is the fact that Seokjin realised this song.

He decided to share not with his family, not with his friends but with us, his fans, the most vulnerable part of himself. The part of himself he always tries to keep private and never displays to the public. Do you realize how much we mean to him?

He trusted us enough to share with all of us this part of himself, a part of him that until now he kept just for himself and probably for the close people around him

This song is pretty self explanatory but I would like to focus on some particular parts that hit me way to hard.
Disclaimer: this is just my personal analysis, it may not be what Seokjin was trying to express and If you disagree with me it's completely fine, just be respectful

"with my breath held, I walk into the sea, I walk into it. I face myself who is crying beautifully and sorrowfully"
You hold your breath when you are scared, anxious, when you are about to face something that makes you uncomfortable

And the thing Seokjin had to face was himself, the part of himself that he always tries to keep locked. And here things get magical. He used an oxymoron to describe his crying.

If you don't know an oxymoron is a combination of contradictory or incongruous words, and you can see it in the use of beautifully and sorrowfully together

What hits me the most is the use of the word beautifully. He describes his vulnerable part as beautiful, like as he realized there is beauty in the dark parts of ourselves. And with this discover he wants to get to know that part, the part he always tries to soffucate

"with my voice unable to come out, I just circle around him. The dark place, I'd like to be submerged in it, I'd like to go to it"

Things here gets terribly painful. He wants to abandon every part of himself to the dark, because he can't bear anymore to resist to it. He tried all his life, but now it's just too hard

"I'd like to find him and tell him I'd like to know more about you today" here I feel like a bittersweet feeling. In a way there is some sort of joy because you can see he wants to connect to his dark, vulnerable part and it's a great thing to do but

In the other hand It's painful because he wants to know more about it so that he can embrace it and finally fully abandon himself to the dark

These are just the basic things I think we all should know while listening to this song. I hope you realized how beautiful this song really is, it's not just a masterpiece, it's so much more than that. Seokjin gifted to us a part of himself so that we could custody it for him
