Been thinking a lot about what it's like to be Latina in the US watching films and TV shows made by non-white people for non-white people who exist completely outside of US white supremacy and UK imperialism. It's hard to put into words how subversive and freeing it is. /cont

In the US even if you have a film/show with all BIPOC cast & creators you are always reacting to white supremacy in some way. It's inescapable. That's why watching films and shows made outside the US is a shock, in the best way possible. /cont
It's not that content produced by non-white people for non-white people can't be deeply problematic in many ways, including toxic masculinity, regressive political structures, colorism and other issues. But it's not US white supremacy. I watch and I'm free of that. I can breathe.
