So, my dad had to be taken to the ICU and put on a ventilator for COVID. He contracted it at an unmasked social gathering that turned into a super spreader event. I'm worried—of course—but my primary emotion right now is sheer frothing rage.
I'm pissed because my dad is a transplant recipient who recently underwent a triple bypass—he's the definition of high risk. And yet, he spent the last several months calling others "afraid" for taking "a completely treatable" virus seriously.
He didn't come to these conclusions in a vacuum. This carefree, "who gives a shit" attitude directly fed to him by the party he's placed all of his loyalty into.
Even worse, he came home from the super spreader event and gave the virus to someone in his household who WAS being responsible and taking every precaution.

This all could've been so easily avoided if one party hadn't politicized a public health crisis. I want to scream.
