$15 by 2025 is downright insulting. Let's do some math here. https://twitter.com/NBCNews/status/1354102510101868547
The average rent for a one bedroom apartment in my town, Highland Park, is $1,450 a month. If I worked 40 hours a week, 50 weeks a year, my gross income would be $30,000 a year. After taxes, my net income is $25,326, or about $2,110/month.
$2,110 - $1,450 (rent) is $660. So after paying my rent I have a mere $660 to pay utilities, groceries, student loans, insurance, savings, and other bills. How is that humanly possible? What happens if there is some kind of emergency? I would be so screwed.
Not to mention this is the average rent RIGHT NOW. By 2025, it will have only gone up. I would pay serious money to see ANY politician or bootlicker pundit try to live off of just $2,110/month. If they could do that for a whole year, I'd shut up about minimum wage forever.
That's the thing. They can't. They wouldn't even dream of it. They have their designer fridges full of ice cream and their multiple houses and don't even have to *think* about what it's like to live like one of their constituents. They don't care. Democrats or Republicans.
