Some clarification on today's pre-registration for a chance at a COVID-19 vaccine at one of the 9 pilot sites. When you receive a confirmation text and email that says you are "waitlisted" -- for all intents and purposes that means you are placed in the lottery.
There was a surge of people on the site at 5am -- which again caused a bit of a wait for some people -- but those people have no better chance of getting an appointment than those who preregister at 5pm or midnight or 430am tomorrow.
The vaccine folks (state and/or private company) will need to manually sort through the "waitlist" tomorrow after 5am and send a followup text/email/call to those who are randomly chosen, and they will then be able to get back into the site and book an appointment.
Some people are mistakenly thinking that by getting the "waitlist" message, it means others were given appointment times. And that is not the case.
