Hey internet world, it's been a while since I've done this, so I just want to take a moment to encourage you to follow some of these incredible climate thinkers and researchers whose writing has altered and shaped my thinking about climate, and taught me so much.
The profoundly vulnerable and emotional essays of @MaryHeglar gave me permission to feel my own feelings, for which I am ever grateful.
@amywestervelt is a badass reporter, digging deep on climate malfeasance everywhere, and her podcasts are excellent also.
@brittwray has a incredible newsletter about climate grief and climate anxiety, and every time I get it I feel so seen, sign up if you can!
@bethsawin has the most beautifully humanistic perspective, so worth a follow for the deepest view this tinny website can provide.
There's a lot of great reporters digging deep into policy who I've learned so much from, like @drvolts @leahstokes @KateAronoff @emorwee - it's pretty hard to write about grid technology and government policy in an engaging way but these folks do!
I learned a lot from @AlexSteffen who's been way ahead of his time for years.
I personally take a lot of encouragement and draw hope from the @sunrisemvmt and the leadership of @VarshPrakash
Who would have thought this movement would have gone from inception to advising the US president in just a few short years?
I love the engaging, emotional, and thoughtful writing of @billmckibben I highly recommend a signup to his free newsletter.
I based my whole personal approach to all of this on the work of @reneelertzman - read her writing and follow her!
@DoctorVive is always challenging and always thoughtful, do follow!
And then of course there are the OG climate scientists who are still out there, researching the atmosphere, working on models, and daring to tweet about it while they do, ie. @KHayhoe @MichaelEMann @PeterGleick and so many more.
@ayanaeliza has been an incredible leader for her research on the oceans and how she has translated that into incredible communication and leadership.
The world is literally full of climate heroes, and filling my twitter feed with them has taught me so much, changed my perspective, and been eminently helpful mental health wise too.
We laymen have a responsibility to stay engaged and informed. Get on those follows!
