In a recent survey, @bruceanderson and I asked some Qs exploring the hurdles facing the @CPC_HQ to expand its accessible voter pool.
We divided the Conservative universe and then looked at how different positions might attract or repel the different groups to the party.

The results really demonstrate the challenge the party faces in both appeasing the base while appealing to the accessibles.
Here's how I see the Conservative universe right now as a percentage of the entire electorate.
Persuadables are those who would vote CPC right now but haven't closed the door to voting for another party. They are unlikely to switch, but its a possibility in their minds.

Example 1: End the carbon tax.
The base loves it. Persuades attracted to it but it divides those accessible to the party and pretty much repels everyone else.

Example 2: MAGA and Trumpism
Big challenge for the party. 1/2 the base loves it, big chunk doesn't at all.
But look at persuadables and accessible. There's nothing to gain by being associated with Trumpism, but some of the base could be pulled to a Bernier/Maverick appeal.
