If you only tell white kids “we’re all equal” then when they hear people of color talk about their lived experiences of racism, intense encounters and contact with police, etc. etc. etc. their first impulse becomes “that can’t be true . . . we’re all equal.”

WHITE SILENCE on racism (which speaks volumes) literally impedes racial identity development in white kids in ways that make impeded and underdevelop antiracist capacity, skills, moral integrity with it . . .

We need to stop using descriptions like (so-called) “colorblindness” and start calling it WHITE SILENCE.

That’s what it is.

And that more accurate labellign makes more clear how nefarious it is.
