Second, due to the broad definition of 'key worker' there are five times more children in school compared to the first wave. Many classrooms are more than half full. And infections in schools - especially primary schools, are on the increase again since term began.
Third, millions or being denied the right to work at home, denied requests to furlough (over 70% of working parents who applied were turned down) and many have no option but to attend unsafe workplaces (of 97,000 complaints, none have led to legal action)
In this context, workplace outbreaks rose to an all time high in the week to 21st January. One partlicularly outrageous example is at a Government agency - the DVLA Swansea offices - where staff are still being required to come in despite over 500 infections!
