NDP MLA @KathleenGanley now arguing for details of the premier's investment in Keystone KXL pipeline to be released to the public account committee.

The pipeline's permit was rescinded last week by President Biden. #ableg

Ganley is presenting a motion asking cabinet to waive privilege and release the documents.

Public accounts always votes on partisan lines. The NDP has a minority on the committee. I'd be surprised if this motion passes. #ableg

UCP MLA Miranda Rosin proposes an amendment that everything goes through the energy ministry, not executive council.

Ganley argues Rosin's amendment changes intent of her original motion.

Committee chair Shannon Phillips rules amendment out of order. #ableg

And as expected, every UCP MLA votes down the motion for executive council to produce the Keystone XL documents and appear before the Public Accounts committee. #ableg

Now UCP MLA Miranda Rosin proposes a motion, which was basically what she tried to move as an amendment. #ableg

Rosin says Albertans deserve to know how the money is spent.
Motion has ministry of energy to release financial info...but it can't breach confidential details, she says. #ableg

NDP MLA Marlin Schmidt calls this "performance art" by looking like they're being transparent when the govt is still covering up the details.

He wants analysis presented to cabinet about risk. #ableg

Schmidt says the info Rosin is proposing to release will probably be in the budget.

Ganley agrees. She says the committee was asking for waiver of cabinet privilege of poltiically sensitive documents.

Rosin's motion doesn't do that, she says. #ableg

Rosin's motion passed by UCP majority on the commitee.

NDP members vote no.
