First day of classes are always exciting. In their Introductory Quiz, I ask a few basic questions about the topic, to see what they know/think about the subject.

This semester I'm teaching Presidential Politics, so I asked two specific questions to gauge their ideas (pre-test):
First question: what *are* presidential qualities?

Here are their responses:
Second question: what *should be* presidential qualities?
Now, considering that these are the "children of polarized politics" and most are studying politics, I thought a lot more of them would be jaded about the chief executive.

Honest reaction: they aren't, and see the potential of the office.

Gives me hope, needless to say.
