All children should be protected from abuse.

The immigrant children that KellyAnne Conway was complicit in caging—that wasn’t a dealbreaker for her, she lacked the empathetic capacity to say that doing this to anyone’s children is unacceptable—as well as her own daughter.

Taking away SNAP benefits for other people’s children wasn’t a dealbreaker for her.

Trying to gut healthcare, destroying the health options of other people’s wasn’t a dealbreaker for her.

All children deserve to be safe and cared for and free from abuse.

All children deserve to go to school without fear of being murdered by a mass shooter.

All children deserve to walk freely without fear of being killed by police.

All children deserve to be safe and cared for and free from abuse.

I hope CC gets somewhere safe today. That some uncle or aunt or family friend or friend’s parents decides to take a stand and do the right thing.

And I hope that all of the children who suffer because of policies and systems become safe and cared for. (They’re not all safe yet, not at all.)

And that those systems change—and are dismantled as needed—so that every child can live in health and safety and freedom.
