1/ Tomorrow, Wednesday, is #HolocaustMemorialDay in the UK.

We will remember the victims of the Holocaust and subsequent genocides. We also honour those who, through bravery & humanity, have been lights in the darkness. https://twitter.com/HMD_UK/status/1352337669418717185
2/ There are so many such people in many different countries & times. People like the late Lena Lopes-Dias and other members of the Dutch resistance who risked their lives to successfully hide my grandparents throughout the Nazi occupation of 🇳🇱.
3/ People like my Dad's teachers at @Caterham_School in 🇬🇧 who cared for a 12-year-old German Jewish boy who barely spoke a word of English - something my father, now 97, remains grateful for to this day.
4/ People like the women in Battambang, Cambodia 🇰🇭 whose quick thinking helped protect my wife, Sophari, then 13, from being killed by Khmer Rouge militia for the "crime" of "stealing" rice. As a result, my wife survived the those years - unlike her father, sister & 2 brothers.
5/ The need for such humanity & courage continues today. So tomorrow please:
- join the online @HMD_UK ceremony at 7pm UK time, (my wife happens to be among the survivors appearing)
- and then light a candle at 8pm and consider what each of us can do to #LightTheDarkness
