Annual leave isn't great either. 28 days includes public holidays. The UK has 8 of these, while Spain has 14, Austria 13, Italy 12, Sweden, Finland and Greece 11, France 10...
"One of the best" is deceptive.
As for sick pay. We're at the bottom of that table too. In the Netherlands you can receive 70% of your salary for two years. UK? £95.85 a week for UP TO 28 weeks.
Add to this the most restrictive Social Security rights and the worst Unemployment benefit scheme in the whole of the EU - and don't even get me started on state pensions - and this shows just how much our government "cares"
