Reasons not to doubt Thomas Tuchel

What do we know?

A thread:
1) Every manager starts somewhere

Tuchel really made a name for himself in Germany at Mainz.

In his first season as manager (Mainz second season in the Bundesliga) he led the promoted side to 9th. An overachievement to so many!
2) Building up a reputation

The second season started with intent. Mainz won their first 7 games in the league including a 2-1 win at Bayern Munich. Mainz went from a newly promoted team to a contender to make it into Europe within 18 months.

Progress had been made
Mains finished 5th that season.

They had the opportunity to play in the Europa league for the first time in their clubs history

The qualifying rounds is where the run ended though but Mainz were now well respected in German football. Tuchel himself had admirers of his own
4) To this day

Tuchel remains the most successful coach in Mainz's history, averaging more points per game (1.41) than the man who took them into the Bundesliga for the very first time back - Jürgen Klopp (1.13)

I wonder where he went from here?
5) On the big stage.

There’s no hiding at Dortmund you either compete at the top or you’ll be axed.

Tuchel’s first season saw him take over from Klopp who’s stale side finished 7th. 33 points off the leaders 😳

Tuchel had a big job on his hands
6) Pedigree

Nurturing players like Pulisic and gaining experience managing top players likes of Reus, Aubameyang, Gündoğan & Hummels.

Dortmund went from a 7th placed side to totalling the most points (78) by any 2nd placed side in Bundesliga history.

Was he for real?
7) Don’t forget the Europa league

Tuchel’s Dortmund had a difficult run in the Europa league but they still caught a few eyes.

R32: Dortmund 3-0 Porto
R16: Dortmund 5-1 Spurs

A thriller vs Liverpool ended in a 5-4 Defeat. We all were entertained nevertheless!
8) Reflection

Runners up in the DFB Cup wasn’t a success but was something. Overall a season to build on. Dortmund we’re back.

For one reason or a another the following league campaign was up and down as they finished 4th but in DFB Cup they went 1 step further. Champions🏆
9) Turning a new page

After 2 seasons at Dortmund Tuchel was unhappy with departures of Hummels, Gündoğan & Mkhitaryan that along with falling short of a big season many predicted meant it was time to move on.

His career was now well underway and on the rise.

What next?
10) Why PSG?

Why not PSG is the question. One of the most powerful, attractive clubs in the world. Tuchel was now in a position to become the best in the world. Managing the best players in the world with expectations of winning everything in front of them.

Time to work
11) Kicking things off

Not the perfect season by any means but in your first season at any club it’s a process especially for Tuchel managing in a different country for the first time.

Champions with 91 points🏆 everything else was an underachievement. He could’ve lost his job
12) Last chance in France

COVID halted a true title success though they were still handed the Ligue 1 title yet again🏆

Along with with

Coupe de France🏆
Coupe de la Ligue🏆
Trophée des Champions🏆

UCL Runners up🥈(An Mbappe chance from the perfect season)

👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼fair play
Reflection

13) Some say the PSG job is easy but when is a job under that much pressure easy? They’re ran with the same mentality as Chelsea. A Ruthless one.

Tuchel has built his way up to the top from nothing & yet has in my opinion a lot to prove. But he’s more than capable
Good fit?

His football is attractive, his mentality is elite. He’s worked with some of the best players this generation has witnessed. He’s managed in the big games on the biggest of stages under the pressure of constant expectation.

He’s more than ready for the Chelsea job.
Any support would be great.

Let’s see if he can prove himself because this job will test him more than ever before. The proof is in his work, he can create success & we know we have the players to do it
