He looks away as women are shamed for wanting to talk about their bodies in their own words. He looks away as women are shamed for being exclusively attracted to other women. He looks away as women are shamed by the violence & hate directed towards them
He looks away as women are shamed for their histories of abuse & the trauma they have experienced. He looks away as many of these women are now shamed as monsters & bigots for talking about the needs of women & the importance of spaces that are exclusively about their needs
He looks away as teen girls are shamed for not being able to live up to pornified ideals of what it means to be a woman. He pretends not to recognise the way that shame can be turned inward & cause girls to hate their bodies & want to escape from what it means to be a woman
Shame is corrosive & can colour every aspect of your life - & we seem to be at a point where women are being increasingly shamed & monstered for even talking about the realities of being women. Can we really be surprised that we have a mental health crisis for teen girls
If people like @OwenJones84 could only stop with the monstering & shaming of women, maybe some heat could be taken out of this horrible debate & we could find a way to discuss how to best meet the needs of different groups
