News is out that an entire family was brainwashed into brutally sacrificing their own daughters for rebirth as per superstitious beliefs, possibly led by some interpretation of a bunch of Hindu cult gurus +

(some strange figures including that Fraudguru Jaggi Vasudev aka Sadhguru), whom dey have been following since many years. Killer parents have MSc, PhD degrees, run a school, n their friends say they also are deeply religious (read obsessive worshippers) +

doing pujas, donating 10% salary to Fraudguru's Isha Foundation among other things...At least one of the daughters was also brainwashed the same, and her social media is full of the usual Hindutva bogus, which of course can't do without Islamophobia. +

While dis may seem an extreme case, n un/related mental health n isolation may have added to the cognitive dissonance of the perpetrators, how different are these people from where our ruling Hindutva party and the much bigger Hindutva machinery have been taking us? +

Most regional TV channels: day begins wid hours of horoscope, astrology, some paapam, punyam, some godforsaken dosham. All day, telemarketing of some bloody kavacha kundalam or yantram 2 ward off evil. N worse, evry oder TV serial has unquestioned black magic driving the plot. +

On a broader note, Hinduism is so obsessed wid death, rebirth, and next life, that it sucks the life out of the living. Death anniversaries>>>birthdays. No wonder dese prof parents seemed lyk such wholesome ppl 4 the many years they were religiously superstitious +

- until d "unfortunate" event, dey were illustrious, well-meaning ppl gatherin punyam 4 a better afterlife. Even now, to d other blind believers, dey r not brainwashed criminals of Hindutva bt victims trapped in some freak fringe of bad luck.
